The next major update for World of Warcraft Dragonflight is Fury Incarnate, and it will be here on September 5th. with the update will come a brand new public event called Dreamsurges, and blizzard is taking a look at what they are, how they'll work, rewards, and lore.
The new public event will impact one of the original four Dragon Isles zones per week. This means that at the start of a new week, The Waking Shores, Ohn’ahran Plains, Thaldraszus, or The Azure Span will find itself affected by a Dreamsurge. This is just the first step, because it means that, every 30 minutes, there will be a new major Waking Dream portal appearing in that zone, creating a group event. If you decide to participate, there will be a +25% XP bonus in effect for those leveling in the area. This is called Dreaming Winds.
These portals don't just show up, because for obvious reasons, they bring enemies. Groups will have to gather and work together to defeat these Druids of the Flame, destroy altars, and their reinforcements above that you’ll have to take down via dragonriding. Once you’ve successfully defeated all the minions and destroyed the altars, you'll face a Flame Lieutenant. Defeat this boss and he will drop Charred Elemental Remains, which you can combine to create some (as yet unknown) things.
If you complete a weekly Dreamsurge quest, “Shaping the Dream” to collect Dreamsurge Coalescence by completing enemies in the zone where the event is active, you'll be able to exchange it for rewards. These include new mounts, pets, and even Veteran gear.
There will also be potential minor Waking Dream portals also spawning in the zone. These are designed to be soloable or with a small group, so the new feature isn’t going to leave anyone out. If enough people don't show up in the area, you still have some options.
