World of Warcraft Pre-Patch Event Is Killing New Players

No One Safe From The Scourge

So, it looks like New Players starting World of Warcraft ahead of the Shadowlands launch have been meeting their end in a rather dubious way: the scourge invasion.

According to a Reddit post, players starting out in the vanilla zones of World of Warcraft are apparently not safe from players who have found themselves infected by the current zombie invasion. Redditor Superab caught video of getting killed by the Scourge during the initial introductory cutscene.

Ever seen someone die during an intro cutscene? Yeah... Me neither. Welcome to prepatch XD from r/wow

Normally players in these regions are not flagged for PvP to prevent this very thing from even happening, but it doesn't seem to be the case with the zombie-infected. Interestingly enough, though, this doesn't seem to be happening in the new player region, Exile's Reach, which is part of the upcoming Shadowlands expansion.

Thankfully, players won't have too much longer to worry about this, as Shadowlands goes live later today. Check out our post here about when the WoW expansion goes live on your launchers in your region.
