World of Warcraft is going to the pirates, confirming the Plunderstorm has arrived. After teasing something of a pirate nature, and a lack of a PTR to keep everyone guessing, it’s time to plunder, hunt down treasure, and get rewarded in the limited-time battle royale event.
Update 10.2.6 is now here and the event will last for the next several weeks. During the Plunderstorm, try to be the last pirate standing in a challenge that offers a chance for new abilities, upgrades, and of course, loot. Based in the Arathi Highlands, there are 60-player matches that last for 10-15 minutes each. Create a new player character that is unique to this event. you'll actually have to select the Plunderstorm2 option from the menu to participate. Join the fun as a solo player or as a duo with a friend. If you queue up for a duo and you do not have a partner, the system will match you.
When the match begins, kill mobs, kill enemies, level up, get new abilities to use, and of course, earn yourself some loot. You can earn yourself rewards for use in World of Warcraft Modern and Classic. Even if you die, you'll still gain progression and keep making your way to rewards. Become a spectator and you'll be able to watch from your teammates perspective if they are still alive.
So what is this all about? Battle royale, of course. As you open treasure chests during the match, you'll loot abilities and spells and even upgrades which will be automatically added to your action bar for you to use. Find a combination you like, hope that you find higher quality versions of the Spells and abilities to upgrade the ones you like or you can find duplicates elsewhere and stack them. you can also start plundering treasure chests with different rarities that you'll find around the map. Of course, there are enemies to contend with the whole way.
You can earn a series of rewards, including a brand new plunderlord Parrot mount, the bubbles the crab pet, swashbuckling cosmetics, pirate fashion, and more. you don't even have to be the last one standing to claim rewards.
The event description will fill in more details, and the complete 10.2.6 update notes details the non-pirate parts of the latest Dragonflight update.
