World of Warcraft Drops Its 2024 Roadmaps For Retail and Classic, Including The Release Window For The War Within

World of Warcraft's upcoming 2024 plans were revealed in a new roadmap for both its Retail and Classic versions of the MMO. This includes the tentative windows for its next expansions in each: The War Within and Cataclysm Classic.

While each roadmap doesn't give concrete dates for when players can expect these updates, it gives some release windows for when players can expect all the juicy new content.

WoW Retail Roadmap 2024

Starting with Retail WoW, Blizzard states that there will be three more content updates for Dragonflight ahead of The War Within next year, slated for Winter and Spring 2024. This will include the epilouges for the Dragon Isles, a new PvP and Mythic+ season, and apparently pirates as part of update 10.2.6. Around the start of Spring, The War Within alpha is slated to kick off as we head into the summer, with patch coming sometime at the beginning of the seasonal timeline. This patch looks like it'll bring Dynamic Flight, Warbands and more to WoW ahead of the proper expansion launch.

The War Within looks to be situated towards the end of Summer/beginning of Autum, which could see an August/September release for the next expansion.

WoW Classic Roadmap 2024

World of Warcraft Classic got its own roadmap, with the next expansion, Cataclysm Classic, situated at the beginning of summer. This lines up with the last few Classic expansions, which have dropped around June in the past. Season of Discovery is getting three updates, the first in the Winter of 2024, seeing a level cap increase to 40, new runes, raids and more. WoW Classic Hardcore's Self-Found Mode, announced back at BlizzCon 2023, is on the timeline towards the beginning of Spring 2024.

It's important to note that the absence of dates also means this is all very likely fluid, and depending on how development goes we could see changes to this roadmap as we kick off next year. But if you've been itching to know what's on the horizon for your favorite MMO, this is a great thing to see as we close 2023.
