World of Warcraft is rolling out Cataclysm Classic on May 20th, and giving a peek at the arrival of the goblin and worgen races in the upcoming expansion.
The pre-expansion patch will go live on April 30th with The Shattering of Azeroth. While the expansion itself will feature a number of updates and tweaks to the content to bring it in line with some of the prior Classic expansions, the arrival of the two races is mostly going to offer some new options.
If you’re a WoW vet and Classic player who has been waiting to play one of the lupine worgen or the crafty goblins, your change is almost here. Worgen class options will be Death Knight, Druid, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior in their fight for the Alliance. While if you roll a goblin on the Horde side, you can pick from Death Knight, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior. If you're looking forward to the arrivals, time to start preparing for your class decisions now.
The new preview gives a refresh on all of these class combinations, and details each of their home cities, mounts, and racial traits. The worgen get traits like the passives Aberration and Flayer, which will reduce Shadow and Nature damage and to add bonuses to Skinning and Deftness, respectively. Then there’s viciousness, which increases critical strike chance. The goblins get the best deals, with Best Deals Anywhere, their passive that means they always get the best gold discount. Better Living Through Chemistry offers +15 Alchemy.
There’s more if you need reminders of what both of these races are about, but mostly, with World of Warcraft’s most controversial (and some might say, consequential) expansion almost here, maybe it’s time to prepare for the major changes that a Cataclysm brings.
