World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic is still going strong after its launch this fall. Dragonflight may be getting all of the attention now, but Blizzard is helping Classic fans with an extra boost, with the return of the Joyous Journeys 50%+ XP bonus into January.
Joyous Journeys means that anyone with a character under level 80 in Wrath Classic is eligible from December 13th through January 16, 2023. Just getting into Northrend for adventures will net you that 50% XP boost. The bonus will be good for both new and existing characters all thre way through level 80. This will be enabled by default through the event period’s end, but if you don't want to progress too fast, there is an option.
If you don’t want the bonus, and want to keep progressing at the regular rate, it will be something you can turn off. Do this by visiting innkeepers in the capital cities and Dalaran and your XP earnings will be at the usual pace.
Since this applies to WoW Classic overall, it’s also a good opportunity to start a new journey, or even nudge some friends into Classic for the first time. Given the progression bonuses, and the fact they last for more than a month, there should be enough time to steadily get them into Wrath Classic and to freeze alongside you as you face the Lich King himself.
While this advantage should help a lot of players to level there characters or even new alts, one of the items of feedback that keeps coming up is the inability for some to roll their characters on the same servers as their friends. There have been some locked servers and those closed to new characters since Wrath of the Lich King Classic launched and there are still some barriers to playing together.
