When you roll a character in World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore, you know you’re looking for a challenge. Now, what if the basic survival and progress challenge wasn’t enough? Well, WoW Classic Hardcore with Self-Found mode is coming next week.
In this new mode, the concept of playing solo is on another level. Create a character under this mode and you won’t be able to send or receive mail from other players, or trade with them in any capacity, including giving items or enchantments or receiving them. No trading, no Auction House, none of that pesky help. You’ll still be able to buy things from vendors and to do other things you’d normally expect to do, but otherwise, you’re on your own.
The mode will unlock globally on February 29th at 3PM PDT for those who felt that Hardcore wasn’t enough of a challenge, or might want to test their skills. While this mode remains active there will be a new buff applied to your character and there will be an icon on the character selection screen that reminds you that you are playing in this mode.
And then you’re off to try and make the most of your one life in Azeroth and see how far you can go. After Classic Hardcore originally launched, Blizzard released a top 10 causes of deaths, and noted that to that point, a character was forever lost around every 1.5 seconds.
If you start a new adventure in Self-Found mode and find that it really is just not your thing, you’ll have one shot to have it turned off and continue as a regular Classic Hardcore character.
