The second phase of World of Warcraft Classic 20th Anniversary Edition is now open. The first content rollout includes the updated Honor System, the Dire Maul dungeon, and the Azuregos and Kazzak world boss encounters.

The Honor System gets revamped to match the system that exists in WoW Classic Era serves and Season of Discovery. The changes mean that this new phase has Honor capped at Rank 11. It will expand up to 14 in a later release, after the Blackwing Lair raid dungeon has been added.

Changes to Honor were made with some lessons learned in mind. The original 2019 launch of the new system was admittedly, “chaos”. This is something the WoW Classic team is just going with this time around. However, they’re doing it knowingly. “With that launch, we saw a lot of great chaotic outdoor PvP engagements between players,” they said, which led them to release the battlegrounds early back in 2019. This time, Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley Battlegrounds will open in one week, on January 16th. Let the chaos reign, and get in there if you want to take part. Things will shift soon. At 2 p.m. PT on January 16th, that is.

Until then, gather your best group and head over to Dire Maul to take on the challenges within. After that, maybe Azuregos and Kazzak and their drops might tempt you into some more action while you wait and adjust to changes in this fresh, anniversary special edition of Classic.
