World of Warcraft Classic’s Season of Discovery rolls on, and Blizzard has some details on how phase 5 will roll out, along with details on Cataclysm Classic's related update 4.4.1.
The Molten Front will arrive early in Cataclysm Classic on September 17th. Fight off Ragnaros’ elementals, aided by the defenders of Hyjal, in the Firelands. Two daily quest areas, the Regrowth and Molten Front, offer some daily solo content for level 85 players. There are 60 new quests, four item level 365 gear vendors, and more.
These quest areas will see several stages of content roll out, but you get the chance to unlock these stages as you go and at your own pace. Do this by earning a new currency, Marks of the World Tree, and using it to unlock more content to progress.
While there is more to be revealed about the patch, one of the additions will be the ability to turn on high definition textures. This and other features coming in the update will be on the 4.4.1 PTR.
Season of Discovery phase 5 itself will open on September 26th, and this time, the new challenges and mysteries to uncover will reach all the way into th Blackwing Lair and Zul’Gurub raids. Prepare for Blackwing Lair, a 20 to 40 player raid dungeon that is tuned as a 20-player encounter. Of course you can enter with up to 40, and earn Tier 2 armor sets, but if you complete it with a leaner team you have a better shot at the best rewards.
Zul’Gurub is similarly designed for 10 to 20 players but tuned for 10. Take 20 players into the jungles of Stranglethorn amid temples and greenery, and a victory might be faster, but again if you take a leaner team in there, your chance for better loot increases. Both of these are flexible, to allow for more players to complete them.
Expect more info on Season of Discovery phase 5 this month, likely after Cataclysm Classic patch 4.4.1 is live.
