After a tease of the release at Gamescom, Blizzard has revealed a full trailer for the Overwatch 2 collaboration event with World of Warcraft in celebration of the latter’s 20th anniversary.
The three main skins announced for the collaboration event are Sylvanas Windrunner for Widowmaker, the Lich King for Reinhardt, and Thrall for Zenyatta. Less excitingly, Torbjorn’s skin isn’t a whole skin, per se, but just a recolor to make him look… dwarf-y as Azeroth’s Diamond Magni. There’s no indicator about how these will be sold yet, but chances are likely they’ll be sold directly to players.
The trailer creatively shows the characters’ new skins by way of a first-person perspective on the Blizzard World map of Overwatch 2, with the camera pursued by Reinhardt and Widowmaker. (Though notably, it’s a lot of reused voice lines accompanying the far more exciting animations.)
It’s unknown if there will be anything else as part of the event, but it will be available as part of Overwatch 2’s newest upcoming patch, which drops on September 17, which also sees the release of the new hero Juni and some new maps.
It’s also a pretty exciting time for World of Warcraft itself, as players are still chipping at the releases of the latest expansion, The War Within, which our staff has been pretty excited to get at, too.
