World of Tanks is taking everyone for a little ride–on Mars. A new, free for all melee mode rolls out tomorrow for a limited time. If you’ve been looking to loot the surface of Mars and compete in a new showdown, here’s your chance.

Go ahead and explore the surface of Mars in the new “Call to Mars” event. This special event will run from May 11th through May 22nd and you'll have access to a special research vehicle, a Mars Rover. Your rover will let you travel around the planet’s surface in an investigation around something referred to as “the Object”. It’s a mysterious alien–object–that is sending out some powerful signals, so Wargaming is letting you live out some sci-fi dreams in this new mode. Cosmic Adventure will let you explore, try to get near the Object in order to scan it from research zones, and earn yourself some points. You will be able to trade points for rewards.

The object you are looking for is suspended over an encounter area, which is a crater with  rocky terrain, red dust, and some pools of corrosive acid. There are some edges to the area that are perilous and could let you fall off the cliff if you're not careful.

Now, this is World of Tanks, so there will be competition. Everyone out there is on their own. You can’t take down an enemy directly, but the Mars over you're in does have an Impulse Gun and you will be able to use some sci-fi tricks,  in addition to simply driving into and ramming your opponent.

In the encounter area, 30 seconds after the start and every 30 seconds later, several power-ups will start spawning across the area, particularly in more dangerous spots.  These powerups have their pros and cons. Overcharge Shot increases your gun's reload speed, its velocity, and power of its shots, but you can't move while it's active. Force Field protects you from other vehicles ramming you, but not from shots. Finally, Supernova takes time to actually work, but once it does, nearby vehicles get sucked into it and then ejected in random directions.

Your objectives and competition are to get points by scanning the object, hitting other vehicles with your gun or ramming them, grabbing power-ups and then using them against other rovers, and even dispatching other rovers. yes, your Rover Can get destroyed.

See the event announcement at World of Tanks for full details and rewards.
