The Overwatch community will soon be instrumental in the selection of national representatives to represent their nations at Blizzcon 2016 and the Overwatch World Cup. Blizzard will nominate several players who have "distinguished themselves in the community" including pro players, community personalities and local players. Voting will begin on August 11th with regional competitions beginning in September all leading up to sixteen teams traveling to Blizzcon in November.

After voting concludes and each country’s players have been selected, teams representing multiple different nations and regions will take part in best-of-three, single-elimination online qualifiers, starting in September. Then, at BlizzCon in November, sixteen teams will battle in best-of-three, round-robin group stages and best-of-five, single-elimination finals.
