Project Pantheon, Wolcen Studio’s upcoming “ExtrAction RPG” is set to get its second closed alpha test, and the team is laying out the focus and roadmap.
The first alpha was announced when the game was formally revealed, and those first tests ended with the team thanking the community for providing feedback and data and insights to move forward with. closed Alpha 2 will be bigger and better, the team says.
The player hub is getting an expansion into a fully 3D space called The Sanctuary. This space is where you can customize your gear, track your achievements, and you can also craft runes. as you continue to play and gather resources, you'll be able to also grow your sanctuary in ways yet to be revealed.
Other features in the next alpha include a new enemy faction, the Hamförir. This monster faction will increase combat encounters and offer a series of strategic challenges when you encounter them.
There will also be a new weapon, the Staff, for those who want to take a more magical route. Along with a new weapon, gear customization will add flexibility to combat styles and your ability to customize your experience. Pick the abilities that you want to equip on your weapons and armor. The team is also promising balance changes and improvements in addition to a combat enhancement.
Where are you going to use that new weapon and the new gear, how about some dungeons? Yep, they're on the way. Movement is also getting improvements, with the addition of Dodge roll as a default ability as well as refined movement in the animations to reduce jitter. Closed Alpha number 2 is set to happen this spring, with a third test in the summer that will introduce the narrative, and a fourth Alpha in the fall focused on balance and progression.
