Wolcen Studio is planning a second closed alpha round for its 'extrAction' RPG codenamed Project Pantheon, unveiling some closed alpha details and a roadmap with updated info.
The first closed alpha happened in January after the team formally announced their new project. Over 1,400 new accounts were created and more than 1,100 players tested the game in more than 500 sessions. Everyone completed 2,156 successful extractions with the fastest being done in 90 seconds.
The second closed alpha is set to happen later this spring. The team dripped out little of what they’re working on adding for the next test, but in today’s press release, they’ve detailed some more. The player's personal hub will be reimagined as a fully 3D navigable player sanctuary. This will be your base where you can track your achievements, customize your gear, and craft runes. Speaking of customization, combat style will be more customizable, including which abilities you want to equip on your weapons and armor.
As far as crafting goes, the team will be adding item decay so your gear will degrade over time. You can see how these systems will interact, as you can craft runes to enhance your gear, and go back and repair it at the sanctuary to keep it in good condition. This adds an extra layer of strategic management.
They'll also help you out of a scrape by adding a default gameplay mechanic in the form of Dodge rolling.
Also coming are dungeons, a new weapon, the staff, a new monster faction, a new tutorial, and more.
Following closed alpha 2 this spring, the third closed alpha will happen sometime this summer and introduce narrative changes and give us a taste of the narrative. Closed alpha 4 will happen sometime in the fall, with an emphasis on player progression and balance changes
