Kingsisle is bringing Wizard101 to console. The family-friendly magic school MMORPG is coming to PlayStation, Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch.
The team released an announcement trailer, as well as some details of what we can expect as some brand new wizards in training will set foot in The Spiral and begin to learn magic and investigate some mysteries..
Wizard101 launched on PC back in 2008. Since launch, the game has grown over the years with hundreds of quests, new features, and 20 worlds to explore. The upcoming console release will cover a wide range–from the most current, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S (both in compatibility mode) and Nintendo Switch–to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Tucked into the announcement was the detail that all console editions will exist on a brand new server. This means cross-play with other consoles will be available, and starting your character on console means a fresh start and a world where everyone's getting their new magical journey going together.
Since Wizard101 features a turn-based, card combat system, throughout your adventures you'll get the chance to acquire new cards, strategically arrange your spell cards as you need them, and learn even more spells as you grow. Other features include a pet system, crafting, fishing, gardening, and even decorating your castle.
The game has a long history of a vibrant community where people are ready to assist each other, so now on a brand new fresh server, will see the community grow again in a new way. Team up with others to take on some of the 1,000 hours of quests available, to trade, and even get help with battles. In the arena, you can practice with your decks, test them out, fight in 1v1 or even team-based battles and maybe get a spot on the leaderboards.
A console release date will be revealed later.
