With Egg On Its Face, Hi-Rez Fires Paladins Strike Outsourcer for Using Overwatch Art

In what has to be one of the most embarrassing weeks ever for Hi-Rez Studios, the company has fired the outsource group that created "splash art" for the Paladins Strike mobile game using the Lijiang Towers background from Overwatch. Speaking to Kotaku, Brand Manager Alex Cantatore said, "We are very disappointed that a contractor for our mobile hero shooter, Paladins Strike, make use of artwork from another game in splash art for our Covert Ops Lex skin."

Cantatore continued, "Unfortunately, as this piece came from what was previously a trusted outsourcer, it did not go through a full internal review cycle at Hi-Rez and made it to the public."

From other statements made by the brand manager, it seems that the company has plans to move more of its in-game 2D art in-house "because we want to have better control over our art".
