During today's Dreamhaven showcase, the company announced a new crew-based multiplayer FPS, Wildgate. Developed by Moonshot Games, players will pilot and plunder spaceships all in search for a mysterious object called the Artifact.

The upcoming multiplayer shooter will see crews scavenge the galaxy in search of the Artifact, all eager to grasp its riches before rival crews can. This plays out in ship versus ship battles as well as slugfests onboard these vessels, with players able to punch holes in shields with onboard weaponry, or even sabotage each others vessels while on board.

Each match sees multiple rival crews battle it out in The Reach in search of The Artifact. Each map is procedurally generated with matches consisting of around 20 players in rival squads. The deep dive trailer accompanying this morning's announcement highlights the sheer chaos that can commence during a battle to acquire and escape with the Artifact.

From ship to ship combat, boarding another vessel to sabotage shields and weapons to leave a rival crew vulnerable, it seems the possibilities are near endless here. Taking on the role of one of the various Prospectors, players can use their Prospector's unique abilities and toolkit to help your crewmates along.

It looks like a ton of wild fun, and thankfully for those interested you won't have to wait too terribly long for a chance to play it as Moonshot Games announced an upcoming preview playtest taking place next month. Running from April 10th through the 14th, players will be able to take part in the stellar antics themselves.

No release date was announced, but we do know that Wildgate will launch across PC, Xbox Series S|X and PlayStation 5 sometime this year.
