For fans of PvP in Destiny 2, some major changes are happening to not only the loadouts, but three new crucible maps will be coming for players to blast the opposition to bits.
On Tuesday, May 7th, the 7.3.6.4 update will be going live, and with it comes three new maps titled Cirrus Plaza, Eventide Labs, and Dissonance. For those who tuned in to the Destiny 2: Into the Light livestream #3, these new maps were showcased during the event with full walkthroughs of each map, the creation process, and of course, a brief explanation of how the devs decided to develop them the way they did. The video is still available to watch if you haven’t seen the new maps already, so it is worth checking out if you are a PvP fanatic.
Since there are only a few more days until the Map Pack goes live, the developers wanted to shine a different light on the upcoming PvP changes and maps so players have an idea of what to expect before diving in. With the help of a community cartographer, Relikt, the devs can now share map overviews to give more details on what's to come.
These overviews not only show the spawn points, but the name of each area to make callouts much easier for teams or friends tackling the new grounds. Eventide Labs seems to have two levels to it, as there is an upper glacial area to give those who might have a sniper rifle the upper hand against those who unknowingly step into their crosshairs.
All three maps will be on an entirely separate playlist called “New Territory”, so that players can queue for these maps specifically without having to round-robin the older ones. These new maps will be available until the end of the season, and the devs say anyone who played on them will be awarded a Slaycation Emblem.
Outside the realm of PvP, there is a new PvE raid gauntlet that will be opening this week as well as a first wave of bosses to come over the next few updates. The gauntlet features four bosses total, and each week more will be added to make things more challenging. Players will take on Golgoroth, Caretaker, Atraks-1 Fallen Exo, and Zo’Aurc Explicator of Planets for the first wave of bosses, each coming with its own classification, hazards to avoid, and mechanics to follow to take them down efficiently.
Those who participate in these gauntlets and take down the Pantheon bosses have some heft rewards to look forward to, including the Godslayer Title Pin and the Pantheon Raid Ring. The Raid Ring was created in the likeness of the very first Raid Ring that was released back in 2020, and players will only be able to purchase this new reward once they have completed every encounter from any of the tiers of the Pantheon before June 3rd.
Several more things are coming along with the PvP and PvP updates, and we also have Destiny 2: The Final Shape to look forward to in June, so there is plenty of new content to roll out for fans over the next few months.
