Airship Syndicate has announced significant updates for the upcoming launch of Wayfinder on October 21st. The action RPG has been in early access for a year and encountered numerous difficulties which included losing its publisher and shifting away from being online only. Now the team has put out a brand-new blog detailing its full release with plenty of new features for players to explore and an exciting collaboration.
From the official PlayStation blog, Executive Producer at Airship Syndicate, AJ Lasaracina, detailed what's to come in the 1.0 version of Wayfinder. For those unfamiliar with the game, it is now designed for solo play or for up to three-player co-op, with an emphasis on team dynamics to defeat multiple bosses. Players can unlock and level seven different Wayfinders and find plenty of gear along the way in this ARPG.
On launch a new open-world area called The Crucible will be a vast and dangerous location with numerous secrets, mini-bosses, and quests for players to take part in. The Crucible introduces an exciting new traversal tool as well known as the Hookshot which will allow players to traverse the world and avoid many of the lurking dangers throughout the world. AJ also states that, due to the size of The Crucible, you should certainly bring a mount.
In addition to the new open world map, Wayfinder is introducing the Critical Role Supporter Pack. This collaboration brings the beloved world of Vox Machina to Wayfinder and will add over 50 unique items inspired by Critical Role.
“We are huge fans of Critical Role, so we’re super excited for this collaboration, which we hope is the first of many.”
-Joe Madureira, CEO of Airship Syndicate
The blog also teases the Venomess character reimagined as Vex from Vox Machina, with Joe Madureira stating that the team has crafted the collab personas to be uniquely Wayfinder. With the full release on the horizon on PC and PlayStation 5, and the addition of Crossplay so you can play with your friends no matter where they play, fans of Wayfinder and Critical Role should definitely get excited for launch on October 21st, 2024.
