The Wayfinder team talks the Grendel reveal at the Tokyo Game Show previews first live event, Call of the Void, and details part one of the big inventory and quality of life update.
Grendel will be the next new character added, and his reveal at Tokyo Game Show was accompanied by the news of a Wayfinder anime on the way as well. The team wanted a character that was not your typical hero type, and Grender, a berserker, fits that.
With the release into a Founder’s Early Access, the Airship Syndicate team has needed some time to get its footing on Wayfinder, but they’ve been making progress on that. Phase one of a two-part inventory and quality of life update is now live, with about 30 changes. These span a wide range of issues and tweaks, from bug fixes to balance changes.
Among those changes are an overhaul to the Echo fusion system, including the ability to break down Echoes into Dust, which can then be used to increase Echo ranks. There are a bunch of fixes included in this patch, including for a bug that was preventing players from fast traveling inside of Lost Zones, and another issue where players were getting stuck on a wait screen. There are also some practical items like localization updates, and improvements to travel time when you are going to player housing instances.
You'll now be able to sell accessories at Venge’s shop, but this change comes with a warning that when you load the sell screen, your equipped accessories will display on the all panel and you can accidentally sell them. This warning is in the patch notes but an in-game warning is necessary ASAP.
The team is also previewing their first ever live event, Call of the Void, which will introduce two new quests, and include a new weapon.
“Omen and Wolf need you! Strange rifts are appearing across the Highlands, and we’re calling upon your courage and curiosity to join us in unraveling its secrets. Your mission is to explore these rifts, where untold mysteries and surprises await your discovery.” A more in-depth preview about the update and the event is coming sometime in early October.
