First announced all the way back in 2019, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is finally getting a PvP versus mode. In a new blog update, Fatshark laid out plans for to run a closed alpha of the mode from January 18 to January 21 with additional details to be revealed on a livestream broadcast scheduled for January 18.
Unfortunately, none of that happened. The Versus stream and closed alpha test have been delayed due to clearly unforeseen technical issues. Fatshark promises to provide new dates once they’re available. Those selected for the test (all 10,000 of you) will receive invites over the coming days, but will have to sit pretty until the new test dates are announced.
Vermintide 2’s Versus mode is an asymmetric 4v4 PvPvE game mode similar to the one players might have experienced in Valve’s Left 4 Dead. Like a typical match of Vermintide 2, the Ubersreik Five will go up against hordes of AI enemies, but this time up to four of the Skaven specials or Pactsworn will be controlled by enemy players.
There’s more to Versus, including why Fatshark decided to work on the mode, in the full blog update over on Steam.
