Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 3 Announced After Smashing Success of Space Marine 2

The biggest Warhammer 40k title of 2024 has already proven to be such a smash that they want to do it again. In a press release, Focus Entertainment announced this week that it’ll start developing Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 3, the next edition of the third-person multiplayer action game after Space Marine 2’s smashing success. 

“Space Marine 2 continues to captivate players, and this new edition promises an even more immersive experience, staying true to the Warhammer 40,000 universe, with intense, brutal, and spectacular gameplay,” the release reads. 

However, the impending Space Marine 3 doesn’t mean they’re already done with Space Marine 2, as the latter will continue to be worked on and updated while the next title is in development. 

“We will continue to support the game with exciting content and regular updates in the coming years. [...] While we will continue to support and grow the Space Marine 2 universe over the coming years, we will take all our learnings and apply them to an even bigger and more spectacular game for the third instalment.” 

Space Marine 2 was one of the biggest smash of 2024, with 2 million players on launch and 4.5 million copies sold in one month alone. It also garnered a small handful of nominations for meaningful accolades, including with the D.I.C.E. Awards 2025 and The Game Awards 2024. 

“Space Marine 2 has proven to be a transformative game for Saber,” the press release read. “It is the culmination of everything we have learned about game development in our 25 years in the business.”
