Warframe is coming off the heels of its wildly popular 1999 update, which released last December, and is following it up with its upcoming Techrot Encore update, launching on March 19th. The new update brings more story, new Protoframes, endgame content, and even the MMO-lite’s 60th Warframe, Temple.

Celebrating 12 years of Warframe, players will be able to snag a new Dex item, as well as access to all of the Dex content the team at Digital Extremes has ever done. During the devstream, the team showcased the new Dex Loris Ephemera, representing the 12 years since Warframe first jumped onto the scene.

While Warframe itself might be a dozen years old now, the annual TennoCon which takes place in Digital Extreme’s own backyard, London, Ontario, is turning ten this year. The player gathering sold out quickly (like, stupidly quickly), but the team at DE understands that some people who wanted tickets weren’t able to snag them.

So, TennoCon 2025 will also play host to a revised TennoConcert, with anyone who might not have been able to snag a pass to the main convention now having a chance to catch the traditional Friday night concert. Digital Extremes is renting out the largest stadium in London, Ontario, to host the traditional TennoCon concert.

If you’ve already got a ticket to the weekend convention, you’ve got a ticket to the concert. However, if you are hoping to come into town for the concert itself, tickets will go on sale March 7th.

Warframe’s 60th Frame - Temple

Warframe is launching its 60th Warframe with Techrot Encore. Named Temple, the “flame of revolution,” this Warframe uses heat waves, minions, and a sentient infested guitar named Lizzie to tackle enemies. For some reason I'm getting Lilarcor from Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn vibes...but much more Glam Rock.

Temple has a really interesting mechanic that uses what is effectively a metronome to time when you should cast an ability. This doesn’t mean you have to cast them on the beat, but if you do your abilities will simply be stronger. As someone who is very musically inclined, I can’t wait to try this out and I do wonder if during the heat of combat this will become more of a challenge, or if I’ll see myself able to stick to the tempo to maximize my abilities.

Temple Warframe 1999 Techrot Encore

This is the second heat-based Warframe the team has made, and it’s apt that a musically-themed Warframe would deal out heat wave projectiles. Temple can also summon minions using Overdrive (Techrot Subwoofer minions to be exact) which buff nearby “fans” while debuffing the “haters.” Pyrotechnics, Temple’s first skill, summons pillars of fire, with casting on the beat seeing even more pillars to damage even more enemies. Ripper’s Wail, a buff ability, will add fire damage to everyone on the team while also healing you and making you invulnerable. Using it on the beat, healing is twice as powerful.

Temple’s ultimate, Exalted Solo, turns Lizzie, the Exalted guitar, into a flamethrower. Each time the metronome hits the beat, electricity damage is added to deal even more damage as you waste enemies. Pretty cool stuff.

New Protoframes

Techrot Encore will also bring new Protoframes to the mix, with four new additions coming on March 19th. Flare (using the new Temple Warframe) joins Minerva (Saryn) Velimir II (Frost) and Kaya (Nova) will each bring their own unique storylines to explore, with new ways to dive deeper into the lore of Warframe, from uncovering the past of Minerva and Velimir and how they are connected to Warframe 1999’s Major Rusalka, to Kaya’s goal of exploring and solving time travel.

New Endgame Content

We’ll also see new endgame content added with Warframe’s Techhrot Encore, including two new mission types and mini-game content.

First, the Defense mission type has been reimagined as Stage Defense, seeing Tenno defend Flare as they hold a concert in memory of fallen bandmates. Meanwhile, Temporal Archimedea takes players through three randomly selected missions from 1999, using modifiers to up the challenge, and a new sticker-based system from Kaya called Peely Pix, which let you modify your runs even further. Players who want even more of a challenge can unlock an Elite version of the Archimedea to plunge headlong into when it releases in March.

Finally, a new mini-game is added as part of Digital Extreme’s Make-A-Wish commitment, Ollie’s Crash Course. This is an Atomicycle racing mini-game which can be found in the Hollvania Mall Hub arcade.

There is so much coming with this update, make sure to watch the DevStream embedded above for the full fat details.
