Koumei is ready to bring the luck of the dice roll to Warframe in the latest update, Koumei and the Five Fates, out today. The patch adds the 58th Warframe, Koumei, several improvements, a new mode, Caliban rework, and kicks off Halloween.
The update is now live on all platforms and was developed in collaboration with Sumo Digital. Koumei, the “dice-maiden”, relies on RNG dice rolls to determine a number of actions, damage, combos, and more all determined by chance. If you are lucky enough, you may get special buffs, some in protective charms, and even apply some nasty status ailments to your enemies, but again you have to be lucky. If anything, playing with Koumei (once you acquire her, by way of the new Shrine Defense mission or in the shop), offers some definite variety and even has the potential to let you prove you can handle whatever pops up.
Shrine Defense is the new mission type, where you’ll have to protect a Cetus settlement By fighting off enemy waves coming from the sea, protect offerings, and take down the mini boss, the Infested Oni. Victories can help you on your way to acquiring Koumei.
There are a series of quality of life improvements, including improvements to the new player experience. These include signing in directly through Steam via linked account, information on unowned mods in the codex, a warning before you sell or destroy items that you haven't yet Mastered, and even narrative improvements to bring the story of Warframe in older missions more online with newer content.
The update also kicks off Nights of Naberrus, the annual Halloween event. Running through November 1st, there are some new rewards to earn, including decorations, glyphs, and mods.
Speaking of refreshed content, Caliban received an extensive rework. The rework is intended to improve mobility and versatility, and you can try it out for yourself because Caliban is a free login reward until October 16th.
