Digital Extremes held a packed dev stream today at PAX East, announcing not only a new Warframe cinematic quest, Jade Shadows, a behind the scenes look at 1999, new Soulframe teaser, and details on TennoCon 2024.
Jade Shadows is a cinematic quest that will arrive this year before Warframe: 1999. The quest will introduce Jade, the 57th Warframe. Described as “angelic”, Jade will make her appearance in the single-player quest that centers on the Stalker, a notorious and mysterious character in the Warframe universe.
Speaking of 1999, The team also welcomes actor Ben Starr, the voice of Arthur in that chapter, to reveal a brand new cinematic that previews the twists and turns ahead. In it, we learn that Arthur is a Protoframe of Excalibur, and meet Aoi, a Protoframe of the Warframe Mag. Mag is voiced by Alpha Talahashi, who is known for roles like Hanako Arasaka in Cyberpunk 2077 and Woosa in Black Desert.
Digital Extremes also announced that Protea Prime is the next Prime iteration on the way. She’ll get a shiny coat of gold trim for her new form, and will come armed with two new Prime tech weapons, a dagger, Okina Prime and Velox Prime, a pistol. Representing a forgotten technological age, she offers various options like grenade clusters, fire plasma charges, and she can also toss health and energy pickups, and even rewind time.
Also looking ahead, we got a brand new teaser for Soulframe. The last update on the upcoming fantasy RPG was at TennoCon last summer. In addition to the teaser, they updated Your heart at work on development and have been conducting small, clothes playtests behind the scenes with an eye on perhaps more testing opportunities later this year.
With more reveals likely taking place this year, TennoCon 2024 is also a go, with the event returning to London, Ontario from July 19-20th. Tickets for the in-person event will go on sale on March 28th. A digital pack also goes on sale that day, featuring Warframe and 1999 goodies, and TennoCon digital swag as well.
