Next month, Warframe will expand on Duviri content with the next update, “The 7 Crimes of Kullervo”. Not only will there be a new area to the world of Duviri, new gameplay mechanics, and challenges, this update will introduce the 53rd Warframe.
So where are you going? In this update, you'll be going to prison. A prison that is located on a new “dungeon” island in Duviri. This Executioner’s infinite prison is also where you’ll be able to encounter Kullervo, the new Warframe. Given the title of the update, which is something that that devs talked about in the most recent stream, you'll learn a lot about this new Warframe.
He plays a role in the world of Duviri. If you visit during Sorrow, Anger, or Fear spirals, then you will be able to see the island and it will become available to you to visit. To get things started when the update launches, there will be a special node so you can enter regardless of the current spiral.
Oh, and you'll have to confront him in a mini boss fight.
Kullervo is described as a melee Warframe that is quite mobile, and he also has AoE mechanics that are different from what Digital Extremes has featured before. He features his own signature shotgun, a sword skin, and alternate helmet. He also has a number of daggers stuck in him and an overall look that will likely be explained in his lore.
In the announcement for the update, he's described as having a "violent and vengeful nature”. Perhaps if you were trapped in a maze-like infinite prison, you might be a little testy. Digital Extremes promises that in learning about his ‘crimes’, there's a lot more to this “tragically heroic” warrior. This is no surprise if you've been playing Warframe for a while.
The update will also include being able to access the currently-locked Undercroft portals on the Duviri landscape, with challenges–and rewards–awaiting, gardening, new Decrees, and more. Kaithe Racing is also returning, and there are some new secrets and easter eggs for the lorehounds to discover.
