Warframe: 1999 will release in December. Digital Extremes announced the launch window along with some more Warframe details in the latest devstream.

If you haven't played the new demo yet, that's available on all platforms. There will also be a brand new Warframe 1999 comic from TBGKaru. The comic is “about the Hex Syndicate [namely, their founding] as they navigate the dangers in Höllvania”. The 33-page one shot comic will be out sometime next month but the team is offering a cover display preview Orbiter Decoration for 1 credit.

Speaking of Höllvania, it's not an open landscape but it consists of procedurally- generated tiles with seasons, and each season will offer different experiences to discover. Each week in 1999 means a new season and changes to gameplay each week. One thing you can count on is a new 90s-inspired  side scrolling minigame, Caliber Chicks, which you can play in the mall there. It was made by Sumo Digital.

The boy band On-lyne may have some hit music tracks, but those tracks have also inspired some nasty plans. The Techrot are 1999’s Infested enemies, and those hit songs inspired them to create their own version of On-lyne’s concerts in order to lure in some new victims.

Enter the Technocyte Coda, consisting of versions of each of the band members with their own combat styles. Think tentacle whips, a brute force charge, illusionary technomancy, metal manipulation, or deadly claws. Once you have that in mind, get ready to challenge them to musical boss battles. If you defeat them (using antivirus software), you'll get tokens to use to get some of the 13 brand new Infested weapons. You’ll also have a shot at cosmetics and other goods representing the defeated member. You can choose to kill or convert.

Speaking of cosmetics, you’ll be able to customize the Atomicycle via colors as well as premium skins to be released.

Digital Extremes is clearly having lots of fun with the nostalgia as they build out the next chapter of Warframe. They've also announced a couple of important dates to remember. On November 13th, Xaku Prime debuts, along with new Prime weapons. Ahead of appearing as Protoframes in 1999, Nyx and Trinity will also get a few overhauls, including a complete change of Trinity’s passive into a way to buff her abilities overall. More details on both to come.
