The Warcraft movie has smashed Chinese box office records, even surpassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Opening day generated a whopping $47M in ticket sales compared to about $30M for Star Wars. This is compared to what analysts expect will be about $25M in day one revenue for US audiences.

In obliquely related, and very creepy, news it appears that one Chinese moviegoer brought his "love doll" to check out the flick. He did have to purchase two tickets for the pleasure of her company during the showing.
