A recent Warcraft III: Reforged developer update from Blizzard shares an update on the team’s progress, while teasing upcoming features.

The post begins by acknowledging the long silence from Blizzard since the beleaguered release of Warcraft III: Reforged. If you recall, the release game included cutscenes which were largely different from what was advertised, with features removed which were part of the original game. The response from the community was swift.

The recent post from Blizzard addresses bug and desync patch fixes, in addition to upcoming balance changes. No specifics were provided, with these provided in the upcoming patch notes. The first of these patches will arrive on PTR for testing this week.

Blizzard also discussed some upcoming features which include Improved Matchmaking, Ranked Ladders, Profiles, Custom Campaigns, and Clans. If you recall, these are largely identical to the features which were in the original game, but were cut for Reforged.

The post then continues to discusses improvements to matchmaking which now features global matchmaking for all modes, “which allows players to test their mettle against the best Warcraft III players around the world.” The post concludes, discussing matchmaking specifically for 1v1, team games (2v2, 3v3, 4v4), and free-for-all.
