Blizzard has announced that it will be releasing the 1st new patch for WarCraft 3 since 2011. As with the Diablo 2 patch, released last week, it is likely that WC3 update will be focused on making the game run better on newer operating systems. In a video released for the very active Chinese WC3 community, Robert Bridenbecker said that this is the first stop among many improvements for the game.

In related news, a fan-based team of developers has announced its Indiegogo campaign to fund WarCraft: Armies of Azeroth, a re-make of WarCraft 3 using the StarCraft 2 mod tools and engine. The team is looking to raise $80,000 to fund the project.

You can read more about WarCraft: Armies of Azeroth on the mod's Indiegogo page.

For those interested in updated graphics for Warcraft 3, but not wishing to deal with Starcraft 2 arcade modes, there is another project by the name of Warcraft: Reborn. The main difference between Warcraft: WAH and Warcraft: Reborn is that the latter is a graphical update for the original Warcraft 3, which means that after the mod is installed, the ability to play campaigns, maps vs. AI or against other players remains, even if they don't have the mod. Current version is in Russian, but the developers have stated that the next release will be in English.
