War Thunder’s next major update, Alpha Strike, will bring the Hungarian aviation tech tree, and a slew of new vehicles.
Keeping things fresh will be the Hungarian aviation tech subtree, which will be under the Italian aircraft tree. This means more development on Hungarian vehicles entering War Thunder’s lineup. After World War I, Hungary signed a treaty that was intended to prevent the country from producing or using aircraft, but they secretly rebuilt their air force.
Gaijin Entertainment is citing this history and detailing their WWII and Cold War-era Hungarian aircraft being added, reflecting that Hungarian aircraft was mostly made with German equipment before 1945 and Soviet equipment after 1945.
The Yak-9P, IL-10, and Tu-2 Bomber are three of the new additions to the tree, alongside a number of other aircraft. Among them are several MiG models, which feature speed and good air-to-air missiles. The flagship JAS39C jet is one of the highlights too. This jet is still in service today in the Hungarian Air Force, with origins in the early 2000s.. Notable for its speed and maneuverability, the jet can also equip air and bomb attack weapons and use them successfully.
The update will also add the French VTT-DCA anti-aircraft gun, with its four 12.7mm machine guns that can handle aircraft, light tanks, and even armored vehicles. The British Wessex HU.5 helicopter is also coming. This helicopter spent over four decades in official service, performing rescues, anti-submarine missions, and in special forces assignments and as transport for the royal family.
