Ilysia’s first beta weekend has been pushed back again, according to an announcement from Team 21 Studio.
The VR MMORPG was set to hold its first big beta weekend this weekend, after a delay in late April, but there were continued issues with the MagePortal system. This system is the account management system for all users, that the team put into place after they completely overhauled the architecture of the game and made a bunch of backend changes.
On April 27th, they announced that they had decided to delay the launch of beta 1 while they investigated initial issues with the MagePortal system. they set the beta for May 13th, but unfortunately, they have to delay it again.
They were unable to confirm that the system was fully functional and ready, so beta one will happen at a later date to be announced.
There is some good news, as the team has “managed to upgrade what we needed to without requiring you to recreate your accounts. However, you will still need to make new passwords for your existing accounts to comply with our new security requirements and encryption”.
In the announcement, Team 21 Studio carefully acknowledged that the news could be disappointing for those who had made plans for the beta weekend, especially since this was the delayed date. However, since they couldn’t be assured that the system was fully ready to go, that the best decision was to delay again and announce it in advance.
As opposed to the April delay, this time, they haven't offered a new date, which is probably for the best. The team will make an announcement when they’re assured of a new date, but delaying again makes sense since it’s better to go ahead when you not only have a working account system (for pretty obvious reasons), but one that is also secure for players.
