Nearly all of us use HDMI cables for one reason or another. Whether it’s to connect your PC and monitor, game console and TV, or pieces of your home theater setup, quality cables are important. VIVIFY announced their XENOS W30 this week and the ability to order custom fiber optic HDMI cables for lengths over 50-feet.
In many ways, a cable is a cable, but one of the ways that VIVIFY is setting themselves apart is through the use of fiber optics instead of the traditional copper cabling. This allows the cable to be much more flexible and durable. According to the press materials we were sent, it would take the weight of four M1 Abrams tanks to cause the XENOS W30 to lose signal. That’s a viral video we would like to see.
The other benefit is that the signal is able to travel much further. Traditional copper cables are usually recommended to run no further than 50 feet to keep the signal from degrading. With fiber optics, that’s able to be extended to 100-feet. This is with full 4K resolution at 60Hz, 8-bit 4:4:4 or 12-bit 4:2:2, ARC, DTS-HD Master Audio and HDR10.
If you have a large home or are setting up your own home theater, the XENOS W30 is currently priced at $49.99 for 25ft. For those custom runs, each additional meter will run you an extra $2. Find out more at the official site.
