Visionary Realms Reverses Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen Weekly Update Plans, Holds PvP Q&A

After a couple of delayed Wednesday patches, Visionary Realms has decided to pull back from a promised weekly update schedule for Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen. They're also discussing server merges as well as reducing shards. All of this comes as PvP is coming, and the community got some questions answered.

The most recent update was initially pushed back a short time and then ultimately moved to this week instead. “Game updates (data or content) will still happen on Wednesdays, but they won't be every Wednesday”, the decision says, and it goes further. “The plan is to move toward periodic updates, much like our previous Seasonal format.”

An updated roadmap with their production goals and an estimated timeline is coming soon. This wasn’t the first weekly patch to get delayed, so the move to not push the team to always deliver the next Pantheon patch every Wednesday does make sense. They were able to deliver on the seasonal patches, so maybe that is the right cadence.

Server merges are also being addressed, as they acknowledge the population concerns. Visionary Realms will take snapshots of the populations across servers over the next few days, before evaluating all of the data and updating the community once they know what the best options are. In the meantime, several larger servers were reduced by one shard each.

Population concerns also come up in the recent PvP Q&A portion of JoppaVash’s stream. The big reason PvP will have just one server and not sharded is they need a healthy concurrent population to make it work.

More PvP questions were also addressed in the early part of the stream, which you can watch above.
