Paradox Interactive will introduce the regional power and historical importance of Brazil with the upcoming Victoria 3 content pack, Colossus of the South.
The DLC adds a new region to the grand strategy game focusing on challenges from emerging nations in South America, and the rise of Brazil as a regional power. You'll get to navigate through modernization and liberalization, politics and other threats to establish powers in Brazil and beyond.
Brazil's Emperor Pedro II, also known as Pedro the Magnanimous, who focused on things like abolishing slavery and modernizing Brazil's economy, is just one of the important figures to feature. Others include including coup leader and General Deodora da Fonseca and populist dictator Getulio Vargas.
Brazil is in a unique location as a regional power, considering the natural resources there including, of course, the Amazon. There's a lot to take advantage of, but you'll have to guard your interests against those who would want your spoils. Explore power dynamics between Brazilian landowners and the positivist Revolution that emerged against the monarchy. Populism is a theme in this DLC, with such events as challenges to the agrarian oligarchy in Brazil from the populist movement, the Integralists, as well as anti-government bandits.
Culture is always important when it comes to adding new content to a grand strategy game like Victoria 3, and national awareness and cultural importance are part of this for Brazil here. Not only will you work on building up Brazil, you'll also take on expansionist goals in places like Paraguay and contribute to aspects of South American unification and even pan-national political movements. Events, journal entries, and flavors for various countries in the region will play a role.
The DLC will be available on November 14th for $5.99 or free for the Victoria 3 expansion pass owners.
