Old School RuneScape has opened up more of Varlamore, with the second of the three planned updates, Varlamore: The Rising Darkness.

Available now for members, you'll be able to enter new areas in the expanded northern lands. There are a series of new quests, with Jagex keeping some of them for a complete surprise that you’ll have to discover yourself. The main line follows from Children of the sun and Twilight’s Promise,

The island of Aldarin opens, featuring the new Herblore activity of mixology. Gather resources, study new skills, stock up on herbs and learn new alchemical elements.  Get beneficial effects and Herblore rewards in the process.

If you’re brave, you can even climb to the frozen peaks of the Hailstorm Mountains to face the new boss, Hueycoatl. The new serpent is available as part of the new update. If you manage to face the boss, which you'll do with allies, including some from the Dwarven party, along with a priest,  and win, expect some new loot.

These rewards include the Tome of Earth, which will give you infinite Earth runes when it’s cully charged and a boost to earth spells. The brand new Dragon Hunter Wand is also a brand new drop and the first dragonbane weapon in Old School RuneScape imbued with magic. The Hueycoatl Hide Armour could also be yours to show off your victory.

Also in the update is the Colossal Wyrm Agility Course. An old anteater, Worm Tongue, needs some help to fight off a termite infestation. There are some obstacles in the way, but if you can master the agility course, there's Agility XP and loot like the Varlamore Graceful Recolour, and a new skeleton transmog for a pet squirrel.

Varlamore: The Rising Darkness will be followed by Varlamore: The Rising Dawn, later.
