Patch 6.25 is finally here for Final Fantasy XIV. The update brings the previously-announced Variant and Criterion dungeons, more side story quests, and the Manderville weapon enhancement quest series.
New in this patch include the continuation of the Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures via some new quests. The Manderville weapon enhancement questline, which can start by obtaining the Manderville Weapons throughout the rest of the 6.x patch series, beginning in the Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventure questline.
Other quests added include Omicron tribunal quests, including main and daily quests. Once you’ve unlocked these, you can earn tribal currency and exchange for rewards.
If you’re looking to do some decorating, the winning items from the 2019 furnishing design contest have been added, along with some new furnishings. But if battles and challenges are more your thing, this patch brings a stronger Echo for Pandæmonium: Asphodelos (Savage) to help players complete it. It also brings the first variant dungeon, the Sil'dihn Subterrane.
In the variant dungeon, there will be several story threads you can take as you explore different routes in the waterways underground with a certain (unidentified) person. You can do this solo or in a party of up to four players, and there will be difficulties scaling in place based on party size. Type of dungeon is designed to be more of a casual and story-based encounter. The next type of dungeon added is designed for those seeking a challenging, role-dependent encounter --the Criterion dungeon.
The first of these, Another Sil'dihn Subterrane, requires a party of four, with a tank, a healer, and two DPS classes (ranged and melee). If you enter this dungeon via matchmaking you will be made into a party featuring those classes. Certain bonuses in this challenge as well as certain restrictions on resurrection. In addition to the regular version, the Savage version will also open.
There are also new recipes and items in this patch, as well as new mounts, and minions. For details, see the notes over at Final Fantasy XIV.
