Sharkmob has announced that 8v8 Team DeathMatch is coming next week to Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodhunt. The major summer update will also bring new maps, new weapons, a series of improvements, and a new Summer Pass that includes 100+ items. The team has also revealed plans for updates and why they’re not doing a traditional battle royale season approach.

The team revealed that they have over six million registered player accounts for Bloodhunt, and they’re planning to continue releasing smaller, yet frequent, updates instead of going all in on a more traditional seasons model other battle royale titles commonly use. Live Producer David Sirland says, in a release, that “We feel that sustaining seasons in the typical way is not what works for our relatively small team so we want to challenge the norm by releasing updates much faster than previously planned but in smaller chunks”.

Team DeathMatch will involve two teams of eight anduse five specific areas in Prague to use as battlegrounds. Each team has unlimited respawns and a score goal to reach. First to get there wins.

When it comes to adding 8v8 team deathmatch, which will initially open as a beta that Sharkmob will refine, part of the philosophy behind the feature was that the game can be a real challenge if you’re playing solo or even in a pair. Having an option to team up with a group where you have the backing of a team working towards a common goal is both still a challenge but also, for some, easier to get into.

Also coming are two new melee weapons, the knife and crowbar. Several new areas, including the Ventrue Train added to the train station, an open attic for the Rudolfinum, with new roof entrances, and the Ventrue area in Elysium. That Ventrue addition also introduces Em, the Ventrue primogen, who you can get quests from. Also opening is Toreador Maia’s nightclub.
