A dev update was posted earlier this month about V Rising leaving Early Access on May 8th, but the developers have mentioned a few other noteworthy things for players to be excited about.

Stunlock announced the release date of May 8th, which will bring the new endgame zone, the Ruins of Mortium, new events, new foes and more. The vampire survival game initially launched into Eary Access in May 2022, selling over a million copies in its first week. To celebrate the announcement, the team released a new trailer to highlight the news.

The latest dev update, the studio also talked about some major changes coming to progression, zeroing in on spells and spellcraft.

"From how spells are acquired to recipes and the quality of unlife that smooths the whole experience into a delightful, intuitive process, we aim to put a new twist on how you play, delivering much-desired changes in unexpected packages. Light some candles and put on some haunting tunes to set the mood. It’s time to settle in to read more about the future of our villainous aspirations."

One of the first things mentioned is the new way to acquire spells, which can be done through defeating specific bosses, and though there previously was a bit of flexibility there will be just a bit more now for players to decide which path to the end-game they wish to take. Whether the boss that would be next in line has nothing that the player feels fits their style, or they want to move on to even harder challenges and fights, the option is now there.

More so, the Spellbook has received a redesign where there are now three tiers that are now based on complexity. Previously, the tiers were based on strength, and vampires were able to acquire even more complex spells once they reached the higher tiers.

V Rising players can also look forward to the PlayStation 5, which is set to launch on console later this year. The update will also bring controller support for Steam players, which should make playing the survival game on Steam Deck much easier.
