Valve Officially Unveils Half-Life Alyx, Arriving for VR March 2020

By Poorna Shankar on November 21, 2019 | News | 0

Half-Life Alyx is real and is a VR title arriving March 2020.

You’ll play as Alyx who is now voiced by a new actress, Ozioma Akagha. The game takes place between Half-Life 1 and 2, and will cost $60.

Developed entirely for VR, the game will support basically all the available VR HMDs, including Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality.

The game description reads,

“Playing as Alyx Vance, you are humanity’s only chance for survival. The Combine’s control of the planet since the Black Mesa incident has only strengthened as they corral the remaining population in cities. Among them are some of Earth’s greatest scientists: you and your father, Dr. Eli Vance. As founders of a fledgling resistance, you’ve continued your clandestine scientific activity—performing critical research, and building invaluable tools for the few humans brave enough to defy the Combine.”

Additionally, Geoff Keighley is continuing his Final Hours series by kicking off a discussion with the team behind Half-Life Alyx. The discussion ranges from how they settled on a VR experience, why they chose Half-Life, and why they decided to devote the resources towards making this a flagship title.
