Valorbound has some new changes after the devs began a process of rebuilding the game, adjusting the game’s art style, along with a series of customization, environmental, and optimization updates.
The PvEvP horizontal progression MMORPG got a number of upgrades, and in an update shared to Discord, we get an update on the changes and several new screenshots on offer. The update acknowledges that it has been a while since there was a development update but they had announced a rebuild of some of the project files. One of the reveals in the new update is their project folder size came down from 83.2 GB down to 25 GB, with an install size of about 3 GB now.
The team has also updated the art style of the game, saying that “we've finally come into our own as we eliminated some of the various art styles over the games assets, and brought one new one in”. Along with these changes, world art, everything from terrain to buildings to the natural world in the game and props, are using a full PBR (or a faked PBR) for performance. This comes after the team decided to change their art style and get rid of what was a flat style of props in the world. In essence, the environments and the entities in the game, from NPCs to lootable items, gear, and creatures in the world, have been shifted to a cel=shaded lighting model.
The art changes also impact characters. The game models are not finished, but there are changes to those as well, with the capacity for both feminine and masculine body types and different character customization work. They promise that more is coming for character customization because “CC is a massive and important part of an RPG to us, and we want to make sure you can represent your inner adventurer how it was meant to be”.
With all of these changes, the goal is to continue deep work on the character customization options and to get a version of the game in its current form to supporters and content partners.
