Today is the day that marks no more codes for beta access for Valorant on console, as the devs announced that open access has begun today.
The console beta for Valorant has been live for over a month, but today will be the first day that all console players will be given access. Anyone who has been crossing their fingers in hopes of a code will now be able to jump head-first into the FPS. One interesting thing to note is that initially, it was rumored that the beta test would conclude today and the title would launch globally. That seems to no longer be the case, as the X post does show Riot still calling this a beta test.
A big question among Valorant fans was about crossplay, and though technically there is a form of console crossplay between Xbox users and PlayStation players, PC players will not be able to team up or battle against console players at this time.
The ever-growing popularity of Valorant on PC can now be spread across console players as well but with a few differences in terms of gameplay mechanics. With similar shooting mechanics to Counterstrike, players shoot from the hip mostly rather than aiming down sights.
On console, the devs decided to implement Focus Mode, which allows players to use a new shooting mode that functions like hip-fire but has a reduced sensitivity. This mode was created due to the regular port from PC controls to Gamepad feeling a bit off. Of course, shooting from the hip is still there for wider shots to be made, but Focus Mode is now there for more precise shots.
