Embracer Group owns many studios and controls a lot of IPs, so the company’s financial disclosures are full of info about a wide range of games. One of the confirmations that came out of the company’s most recent report is that Valheim will finally release on Xbox Game Pass next month.

Valheim developer Iron Gate recently teased some of what’s in the works on the game. The next biome, the Ashlands, is a horror-inspired land of the dead type of place, and the team has promised greater transparency during development. When the Mistlands, the latest released biome, was in development, there were updates that it was coming, sometimes joined by a screenshot or two, but now they’re looking to provide some more detail.

The team announced back in June 2022 at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase that Valheim was coming to the Microsoft Store and would be joining the Game Pass lineup in “early 2023”. Now we know that the game will make its way over in March. With Valheim being a cross-platform experience, those seasoned players will have a new chance to get some friends on board.

Valheim has been a success, with Embracer Group reporting back in November that the title had moved 10 million copies since Early Access release back in 2021. Three million of those sales came in the first couple of weeks, but there seems to have been a steady community that, with Game Pass, looks to grow.

Recently, Microsoft stated to the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the regulatory body examining its proposed Activision Blizzard acquisition that “its internal analysis shows a [redacted]% decline in base game sales twelve months following their addition on Game Pass”. Yet, the company followed up by noting to Eurogamer  that each game is unique and being on the subscription service affects each differently.

Embracer Group’s financial report has also shed some more light on other releases, with five games based on The Lord of the Rings IP (which Embracer acquired rights to last year), in the works.
