The developers of Valheim have posted a new Dev Blog discussing a timeline on the new Ashlands update release, as well as a few more interesting tidbits that will be heading down the pipeline soon.
The video posted by the devs showcases the Twitcher Spawner, which will be scattered about the new area. These spawners bring a new and exciting enemy to the game that the developers describe as “quite fun, but on the brink of annoying”. The twitchy little skeletons were put into the game because the devs needed some form of trash mob to add to the new area, and they seem to have wanted to challenge players as they state,
“I was just going to say, that’s why I like them, I like games that are like on the brink of irritating, irritatingly hard, but you can still manage to learn how to kill them and then you can overcome the game somehow.”
On top of the inherently difficult new enemies scattered about, they released the updated visual to the Fallen Valkyrie, which comes down from the sky with little warning to obliterate players where they stand. The glowing red eyes and decrepit dark wings really make a statement that brings out nothing but fear, and the new model is pretty cool to say the least.
