V Rising's Huge Secrets of Gloomrot Update is Now Live

The first major update for V Rising, Secrets of Gloomrot, is now available.  The update greatly expands the game with a new zone and biome, Gloomrot, new lore, dozens of new enemies, and many more ways to build and customize your vampire’s new existence.

Releasing on the first anniversary of V Rising’s very successful launch into Early Access, the team at Stunlock Studios have been calling this one an expansion. It does fit the bill, with so many changes and that much new content. The devs began announcing some of their plans late last year, since the first major content update was pushed back in order to make it even bigger and to prepare V Rising for further updates down the line.

Gloomrot, the region, is made up of two regions, each shaped by the sinistre scientific experiments that have taken place in this area of Vardoran. This background is the reason for some of the new bosses and enemy types you’ll encounter, including technologists, experiments, and mutants. There are other new enemy types, including spiders, elementals, and the undead, so it's not all wayward scientists and their unfortunate experiments.

And then there’s building. Now, thanks to all of the back end changes and development time that the team spent on this update, you can now create multi-level castles, making your mark in a really expansive way. There are also a bunch of new castle customization options, with more colors, styles, and new elements that you can add to your castles, like gardens and stairways.

With the arrival of the update, Stunlock Studios has also made an announcement on official servers. These will now all be subject to a regular reset, with PvE servers set at six months, and PvP servers will get wipes at one or three months. With V Rising being an Early Access game, being able to reset as needed–and to have room for more experimental tests–is something they’re going for here. With this in mind, they are establishing that everyone should expect that the official servers will be inevitably reset.

For more on the update itself, head to V Rising for the full patch notes.
