Stunlock Studios is previewing some new weapons, ways to enhance them, and customization options coming in V Rising’s 1.1 update.

The new weapons offer more choices on how you want to take down enemies while building your vampire’s legend (or just organizing and building a fine castle). The preview comes in a new devblog, and reveals three new weapons on the way: claws, a dual-bladed spear, and throwing daggers.

For those who want their adventures as a bloodthirsty hunter to feel a little more beastlike, enter the claws. This is for a raw, close combat experience, and using claws allows for relentless attacks and damage stacking via a puncture mechanic “mimicking the act of rending and debilitating your foe more as you continue to tear into them”. When the effect is triggered, there's an explosion of damage, depending on how many stacks.  As with all weapons, there is an artifact weapon for the claws, Talons of the Lich Beast, with additional effects that include self-healing and skeleton summons.

Maybe you want to wield your power in a threatening, yet graceful sort of way. Enter the Twinblade, a staff with blades on both ends. Leap at your enemies and land devastating blows or fast primary attacks that come in twos. You can also throw it at an enemy, close the gap, then launch them up in the air to finish. Like a cat playing with your food, always in control. The Fate Dancers, its artifact weapon, will be frost-themed, with guaranteed chill effects and increased damage against chilled enemies.

Finally,  if you want a fast weapon and you prefer an agile and precise combat style, the throwing daggers may be for you. Throw them, use your magic to gather them back from the battlefield and toss. You can build dagger stacks that let you throw multiples. The artifact weapons, The Wraithblades, links to Phantasm from the illusion school, which, when stacked, offers additional damage and more.

Another new addition in the update will be weapon coatings, a way to enhance your weapons with special on-hit attacks. You can mix coatings across different weapons and further customize your playstyle.

The full devblog goes into a lot more details and also shows off new skins for the artifact weapons.
