Notching another milestone, Stunlock Studios has announced that V Rising has sold another 500,000 copies, bringing its early access launch to 1.5 million copies. With the game letting you awaken as a new vampire set to  build your castle and make your fortunes, this equals a lot of vampires. We reviewed the game, and it's no surprise that so many are flocking to it. The development team also posted a dev blog talking about what we can expect from next steps.

With this kind of overwhelming support for the Early Access release, the team is not getting ahead of themselves. Stunlock is focused on the original goals for Early Access, as well as putting together what the first weeks of data tell them about what comes next.

“Our primary focus right now is bug fixes, balance changes, server optimization, and quality of life improvements. The next step will be to analyze all the data and feedback from the first weeks of Early Access to make sure we can nail the master plan moving forward.”

They have already started working on new improvements and content that will come later, but they're wanting to be thoughtful about improving the journey to help the game reach its potential, especially now after 1.5 million copies have been sold. While the introduction has been obviously well-received, their plans still seem to be  to create more extensive updates instead of hammering out many smaller patches. Of course, if there are bug fixes needed, they will work on those and get them out there, but they ask for patience because they are working on new content, but there’s still work to be done on the base game, being that it’s still Early Access.

The devs also note that they’re going to be stepping back to get all their plans together and keep working, but more frequent announcements and devblog type releases will be coming. So will the content, as

“With time… There will be more weapons to wield, loot to plunder, and sorcery to conjure. There will be more V Bloods with new challenges, lands to explore, and further ways to enhance your castle to express your vampiric glory.”
