UPDATED: Scott Hartsman, CEO of Trion Worlds, had this to say:

"We've had to make the difficult decision to eliminate 15 positions throughout the company. We are extremely grateful for those who have been impacted for their hard work and contributions to Trion Worlds, and will be offering each of them severance benefits and job placement assistance. This is not related to the performance of the individuals affected nor of Trion Worlds as a whole, but was necessary to enable us to develop the upcoming projects that we have planned in the best ways possible."

Just days after the launch of Defiance 2050, it appears that Trion Worlds is undergoing a round of layoffs that includes some big names including ArcheAge Associate Producer Seraphina Brennan and QA member Jessica Pate. In another, but seemingly unrelated, departure, AA's community manager Joe Brogno has left for "a whole new adventure".

Pate sent out this Twitter post:

so, friends.. trion had some company lay offs and that included me. if anyone has any QA or CS based job leads, they’d be appreciated. obviously i’m also a 3d artist, but i’m currently working on portfolio for the near future, so do with that what you will

Brogno wrote:

I leave you in the capable hands of Linda “Brasse” Carlson, who will act as the interim CM for ArcheAge. She’s a very seasoned MMO CM, having worked on Rift, Everquest 1 and 2, Star Wars Galaxy, Planetside 1 and 2, DC Universe Online, Free Realms, and many more. Brasse is the Director of Community here at Trion and will also be a great representative of all you dwarves out there. While she already plays ArcheAge, be sure to display the same patience and generosity with your knowledge as you did with me when I started!

It remains unclear how many other employees may have been laid off, but we've reached out to Trion for clarification. We'll keep you posted as the story develops.
