United Forces to Lay the Groundwork for Big Changes Including Regional Connected Servers

The Star Wars: The Old Republic site has been updated with a long post laying out the development roadmap for the balance of 2017. Included is the first information about big changes coming to multiplayer starting with the deployment of the United Forces Campaign in November. Some components of United Forces, mostly of the quality of life ilk, will be coming in October including an extended maintenance period on October 24th and the full campaign coming on November 8th.

One of the anchors of the United Forces is the connection of multiple servers in each region. This is, so the post says, to facilitate better group finding mechanics. However, players on roleplaying realms have concerns that this will have a negative impact on server community. There is a long FAQ on how this will happen, what it means in terms of player names, guilds, storage and much more. Head here.

However, this is just the start of some big improvements and changes coming to SWTOR including:

  • multiplayer improvements based on player feedback across a number of channels. The largest multiplayer update ever will be arriving on November 28th that will feature a new Flashpoint, a new operation, a new Galactic Starfighter map and a new PvP location. Group Finder will also be improved as will Legacy bank improvements, level 70 character boosts and United Forces rewards will also be included.
  • story and companions will get a bit of an update too as the team works to find ways to reintroduce the original companions with several returning in the forthcoming months.
  • Galactic Command will undergo a number of changes based on player feedback including:
    • Galactic Crate content improvements – we’re adding another slot in each crate that, no matter what Tier you’re in, grants a small chance to receive a higher tier Mod/Enhancement, Grand Chance Cube, CXP Buff, or CXP consumable.
    • Legacy Perk – For each character that reaches Command Rank 300, we will automatically add an additional 25% bonus CXP to your entire Legacy up to a maximum of 100%. You do need to purchase the initial 25% perk, but the additional 75% will be free. And, YES, this Perk is retroactive, so you will immediately benefit once we deliver United Forces Foundation.
    • CXP for all areas of the game is in review – as some players experienced with the Planetary Daily Areas, increased CXP makes us happier, so that’s our plan for all areas throughout the game and will coincide with A Traitor Among the Chiss update.
    • Also with A Traitor Among the Chiss, we’re changing how Disintegrate works – instead of receiving more CXP, we will provide you with Unassembled Components for armor and weapons. In addition, you can send those components to any character in your Legacy as we’re changing these to be Legacy-bound consumables.
  • PvP will see alterations as will operations and various quality of life areas
  • class balance will also be closely examined as player feedback about imbalance has been heard. Advanced Classes will be refined

You can check up on more details by visiting the Star Wars: The Old Republic site.
