Next-gen sequel to Ultima Underworld 1&2, fantasy RPG Underworld Ascendant has been raking it in on Kickstarter, and thanks to reaching its $750,000 stretch goal, the game will now enjoy the swampy presence of the Lizardmen, inhabitants of the Dire Grove.
At this writing, the project has blown two other stretch goals out of the water, having reached $860,000. This presumably (the game's website has yet to be updated) means players will also get Companions like Vorpal Bunnies or Mini-Brains, as well as enhanced music and sound effects.
Underworld Ascendant seeks to update the Ultima Underworld series by combining player-driven narrative with high-level graphics, as well as what the development team calls "The Improvisation Engine." This last feature empowers players to experiment with different methods of overcoming obstacles in the interest of writing your own narrative.
